Dr. Yingyu Law

YLAW_Headshot.png

Yingyu obtained her PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Queensland and before that studied Biotechnology at Murdoch University, both in Australia. In her previous work she planned and coordinated sampling campaigns on major wastewater treatment sites to assess the emission of fugitive greenhouse gases.
Her current research focuses on nitrogen transformations in wastewater treatment plants with an emphasis on making nutrient removal by microorganisms more energy efficient.  Ying also helped establish that phosphorus removal is possible in tropical climates, with phosphorus being another important nutrient in wastewater that can contribute to poor water quality if released in high concentrations. Outside the lab she enjoys yoga, running and travelling.
